As you may have noticed, facial hair is all the rage these days. Whether its Moustache-March or No Shave-November people are talking about it. I’m here to give you a few helpful tips as you experiment with your glorious gift of facial hair.
1. First and foremost-Keep it clean guys. You actually have to wash it. Just letting some water run over it in the shower doesn’t count. It’s hair and just like the hair on your head, it needs soap. You have a couple of options here. You can use the same soap you wash your body with but the down side to that is it can dry out the skin under your beard. When this happens you will notice flaky skin and your beard will look like it has dandruff. Your other option is to use a professional beard wash. MenZone now caries Bluebeard’s Original Beard Wash and Beard Saver (beard conditioner).
2. Regular grooming is a necessity. Just because you are growing out your facial hair doesn’t mean you don’t need to trim it occasionally. It doesn’t have to be drastic but an occasional trim to keep it looking neat is good. HINT: The first thing to give away an unkept beard is the upper lip. If you keep your moustache trimmed up no one will notice if you go an extra week or two between trimming the rest.
3. Nose hair is NOT facial hair. When your nose hair starts to become part of your moustache we have a problem. You are probably laughing right now, you think I’m joking but this happens…a lot. Good news! We have a solution for you. Go out to the store and get one of those nifty little trimmers that you stick up your nose and trim those puppies down. Better yet, next time you get your hair cut, let us take care of it for you. We do nose waxing. Yes, we know it sounds painful but it’s not. We guarantee it hurts less then ripping a band-aid off your leg (provided your leg has hair).
4. Don’t be a chicken. If you have the gift, embrace it! Change it up. You don’t always have to sport the same goatee. Try a chin strap. Go bold and rock some mutton chops. The possibilities are endless!
